The Gift of Scholarship
The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia was founded eighty years ago by fourteen trailblazers who had the amazing foresight and vision to create an organization that would promote Hellenism through Paideia, fellowship, and educational programs.
From the Club’s inception in 1936, the founders envisioned an institution that would support meritorious students through a scholarship fund program. That Scholarship Fund has provided more than 300 students with over $600,000 in grants and scholarships for undergraduate and graduate schooling!
The ancient Greeks helped to establish the underpinnings and foundations for the artistic, philosophical, political, scientific and educational ideals that are the essence of western classicism today. Greek descendants and those who admire the vast tradition and history of Hellenism comprise the membership of the Club. Our members have been the backbone of the Club by providing innovative ideas, mentorship, and especially financial support to help perpetuate the vision and mission of the founders as well as expand and increase the scope of Paideia and the Scholarship Fund.
The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia has just embarked on a year of celebratory events marking our 80th year, which will propel us into the next phase of the Club’s remarkable history. Our goal is to expand our Scholarship Fund endowment in 2016 to $1,000,000 so that we may increase the amount of each of our scholarships and continue to award scholarships in future years.
We invite you to read our brochure and watch the video. We truly believe, as we hope you will also, that our Scholarship Fund is worthy of your support. Please join us in this celebratory year by contributing to the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia Scholarship Fund.
